Linear Integration Privacy Policy

In short: connecting Linear is entirely optional. When connected, tAI can search, read, and create issues and projects in your workspace at your request -- either when you explicitly ask for it in a chat, or when you manually attach an issue from the composer. We do not use your Linear data for advertising or model training.

1. What this policy covers

This page explains, in detail, how tAI (an Artfical product) accesses and handles your Linear workspace if you choose to connect your account. It supplements our general Privacy Policy, which covers every other kind of data tAI collects. If anything here conflicts with the general policy, this page governs for the Linear integration specifically.

2. How you connect it

From Settings > Connectors, you can optionally connect your Linear account through Linear's own OAuth sign-in flow. Nothing about your workspace is accessed until you complete that flow and explicitly grant tAI the permissions below.

3. What permissions we request, and why

The connection requests Linear's read, write, issues:create, and comments:create scopes -- the minimum combination needed to read your issues, update existing ones, and create new issues and projects. Linear offers these as separate opt-in scopes, so we request each one individually rather than a broader "admin" scope.

4. When and how we access your workspace

Linear access only happens in one of two situations:

You ask for something Linear-related in a chat (e.g. "find that issue," "open a new issue") -- the AI performs only the single operation needed at that moment (search, read, or create an issue/project) and reflects the result in the chat.
You manually pick an issue from + > Connectors > Linear in the composer and attach it to your message -- that issue's current title, status, and description are fetched fresh at that moment and added to your message's context.

Outside of these two cases, your workspace is never scanned periodically or synced in the background.

5. How creation works

When the AI creates an issue or project, it becomes a real record in your connected Linear workspace immediately -- unlike the GitHub integration, there is no "branch first, review later" intermediate step here, because adding a new issue/project carries no risk of breaking something that already exists. If your workspace has more than one team and which one to use isn't specified, the AI checks with you or the available team list first; it never deletes or permanently alters an existing issue without your request.

6. What we do with the data

Content returned from Linear (issue titles, descriptions, status, project details) is used only to generate the AI's reply to your specific request in that chat.

We do not use your Linear data for advertising.
We do not sell your Linear data.
We do not use your Linear data to train AI/ML models.
No human at Artfical reads your issue/project content, except with your explicit consent, to comply with a security or legal obligation, or as part of support you've personally requested.

7. How long we keep it

The content of an issue you manually attach from the composer is stored alongside that message, in the same place as the rest of your chat data, and is kept for as long as that chat exists -- it is permanently deleted when you delete the chat or your account, following the same retention rules as the rest of your chat data. Content the AI sees while searching or reading during a conversation is not separately stored beyond generating that message's reply. Your Linear access and refresh tokens are permanently deleted from our database when you disconnect or delete your account.

8. Revoking access

You can disconnect Linear at any time, in either of these ways:

In tAI, from Settings > Connectors > "Disconnect."
Directly from Linear, under your workspace's Settings > API > OAuth Applications.

Disconnecting stops all future access immediately. Any issues or projects tAI already created remain in Linear as-is -- you can edit or delete them the same way you would any issue or project you created yourself, directly in Linear. Disconnecting does not retroactively delete Linear content already saved in your existing chat history -- you can remove that the same way you'd remove any other chat, by deleting it.

We may update this policy from time to time. For significant changes, we'll update the "last updated" date on this page.
