In short: connecting Gmail is entirely optional. When connected, tAI only touches your inbox when you explicitly ask it to, never sends anything without your review, and never uses your email data for advertising or to train AI/ML models.
This page explains, in detail, how tAI (an Artfical product) accesses and handles data from your Gmail account if you choose to connect it. It supplements our general Privacy Policy, which covers every other kind of data tAI collects. If anything here conflicts with the general policy, this page governs for the Gmail integration specifically.
From Settings > Connectors, you can optionally connect your Gmail account through Google's own OAuth sign-in flow. Nothing about your Gmail account is accessed until you complete that flow and explicitly grant tAI the permissions below.
gmail.readonly) — so the AI can search your inbox and read a message's content when you ask it to, for example to find or summarize an email for you.gmail.compose) — so the AI can prepare an email draft for you. It never sends a draft automatically under any circumstance; whether to send, edit, or discard it is entirely up to you, from your own Gmail. We do not request permission to send email directly, delete email, or access any Google service other than Gmail.
Gmail access happens only in direct response to something you ask the AI in a chat — for example "search my inbox for X" or "read that email and summarize it." Your inbox is never scanned automatically or in the background, and there is no periodic sync of your email content.
Content returned from Gmail (message subjects, senders, dates, and bodies) is used only to generate the AI's reply to your specific request in that chat. Consistent with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements:
When the AI reads or searches your email at your request, the relevant content becomes part of that chat's message history in your account — the same way any other tool result (like a web search) does, so you can scroll back and see what it found. It is kept for as long as that chat exists, and is permanently deleted when you delete the chat or your account, following the same retention rules as the rest of your chat data. We do not keep a separate copy of your email content anywhere else.
You can disconnect Gmail at any time, in either of these ways:
Disconnecting stops all future access immediately. It does not retroactively delete email content already saved in your existing chat history — you can remove that the same way you'd remove any other chat, by deleting it.
We may update this policy from time to time. For significant changes, we'll update the "last updated" date on this page.
